Our objectives

With growing international support for managing invasive species, and increasing requests for related science-based services, Landcare Research has created a new business unit – Invasive Species International (ISI).

Providing a focused and responsive service to overseas customers is the primary goal of ISI.

Coordinate services

We aim to coordinate the provision of scientific and technical services by Landcare Research staff in support of overseas agencies tackling the environmental, economic and social impacts of invasive species.

In particular we provides three types of services: project development (strategies & priorities, feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis, project design), research & development (directed research, adaptive management, field trials, developing techniques & technologies), and evaluation & review (independent & authoritative reviews for implementers & funders).

Additional support

Another objective is to facilitate additional inputs, as required, through our partner and specialist networks in New Zealand and elsewhere.

ISI will take a cooperative approach wherever possible, linking with partners and collaborators to minimise duplication and to maximise progress globally in addressing the threats posed by invasive species.
